New York May 1. 2024 (Saba) - During their raid last night on the Columbia University campus, the New York Police arrested hundreds of students who support Palestine in protest against the war of extermination carried out by the Zionist enemy in Gaza and began evacuating the sit-in building.
Social media sites and video clips recorded the police entering a truck equipped with a ladder into the Hamilton Hall building, where dozens of pro-Palestine students were present, and stopped in front of one of the building’s windows for members of the riot police to enter.
These clips showed police officers arresting hundreds of protesting students in their attempt to break up the sit-in after storming the building.
The huge campus of this large educational institution is located in northern Manhattan in downtown New York City.
This comes at a time when the President of Columbia University asked the New York Police, in a letter published last night (Washington time), to break up the sit-in carried out by pro-Palestinian students, and to maintain a security presence on campus until at least May 17.
The university president said in her letter that she "requests the police to help clear protest sites inside the university, and to maintain a security presence on campus until at least May 17, 2024 to maintain order and ensure that no protest camp is re-established."
