HODEIDA April 28. 2024 (Saba) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade launched on Monday the distribution of local "mango pulp" crude to juice factories in Hodeida Governorate, as part of plans to transform juice and food factories towards the use of local agricultural raw materials.
During the inauguration, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry for the Internal Trade Sector, Mohammed Qatran, explained that the distribution of natural mango pulp to juice factories came according to accurate studies on the quantities of production and the needs of factories according to their production capacity to start manufacturing juices from local mango farms.
The process of shifting juice factories towards using local agricultural raw materials has begun at a good pace under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, he said, after the successful localization of the dairy industry and the start of manufacturing products from natural cow's milk.
Qatran pointed out that mango is one of the most important Yemeni agricultural products and has advantages and characteristics in terms of taste and quality that are rarely found in the world, considering its use in the manufacturing process an additional advantage for Yemeni juice products and will enable them to compete in foreign markets due to the good reputation of Yemeni mangoes.
He stressed that the ministry is currently working to replace imported crude with local products in sauce production factories, praising the cooperation and response of local factories to the plans of the Ministry of Industry.
