SANA'A April 27. 2024 (Saba) - The Minister of Industry and Trade in the caretaker government, Mohammed Sharaf Al-Mutahhar, stressed that the success of localizing the dairy industry, and the launch of the implementation of a plan to transform juice factories towards the use of local agricultural raw materials, establishes a new phase for national industries, especially food.
The Minister of Industry explained in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the start of the process of transforming food industries towards the use of local production inputs comes within the framework of translating the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed. Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, and the directives of His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council.
He pointed out that the ministry intends to implement a series of measures to support industries based on local production inputs by providing a package of facilities for the manufacturing process and contributing to the marketing process and raising awareness of the importance of using local products that use natural inputs such as dairy, juices, legumes and others.
He pointed out that the ministry honored the dairy factory companies that started manufacturing products from natural cow's milk for their interaction with the plans of the Ministry of Industry in implementing the national strategy to localize the dairy industry, and the success they have achieved in this field.
Minister Al-Mutahar indicated that the ministry will work to benefit from the experience of localizing the dairy industry and applying it in the juice industry and other food industries.
He also stressed that the ministry has plans to transform food industries towards the use of local raw materials within the framework of a broad strategy to support national industries and protect local products, in a way that contributes to creating a productive industrial activity that supports and develops investments in the agricultural and livestock fields.
He stated that the start of dairy factories in Hodeidah to manufacture products from fresh cow's milk raised dairy production from three thousand liters per day to approximately 80,000 liters of cow's milk per day from cow farms and cooperative societies in Tihama.
The caretaker Minister of Industry pointed out that the ministry is currently working on collecting data on the average annual production of some agricultural products to absorb them in local food factories and secure stable production inputs that work on the regularity of the production process in them.
He expressed thanks to the local industrial companies cooperating with the ministry's plans in a way that translates the real partnership between the ministry and the private sector, directing national capital towards industry and investment in productive fields, and benefiting from local advantages and capabilities in order to achieve sustainable development of the industrial and commercial sectors in the country and achieve the public interest.
