Meeting in Sana'a approves local mangoes absorption into juice factories

SANA'A April 21. 2024 (Saba) - A joint meeting between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Supreme Agricultural Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital secretariat today, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry for the Internal Trade Sector, Muhammad Qatran, discussed the executive steps for starting juice factories using local agricultural products.

In the meeting, which was attended by the representative of the Supreme Committee, Mustafa Hataba, the head of the Chamber of Commerce in the secretariat, Ali Al-Hadi, and the directors and representatives of the factories producing juices, the Undersecretary pointed out the importance of moving towards using local agricultural raw materials in the manufacturing process, because of this great importance to the national economy.

For his part, the President of the Chamber of Commerce stressed that mobilizing the private industrial sector to enhance national production to achieve self-sufficiency is the chamber’s top priority, noting the importance of the partnership between the private sector and the government to protect local production from dumping of imported products.

He praised the cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and other government agencies, their keenness to provide local raw materials at competitive prices, and the start of using local agricultural production in the manufacturing process, such as mangoes and tomatoes, in the first stage.

The meeting approved the start of local factories to absorb mango pulp product from the Bagel (Mico) factory, provided that the factory is committed to providing raw products to the factories in accordance with Yemeni standard specifications.

The meeting was attended by member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce in the secretariat, Anwar Al-Husseini, the Director General of the Chamber, Muhammad Al-Jabri, and the head of the commercial and industrial sectors of the Chamber, Qais Al-Kumaim.
