Newsweek: Hamas has won and dictates its terms for ceasefire
[19/ April/2024]
WASHINGTON April 19. 2024 (Saba) - Newsweek confirmed that it has become increasingly clear that the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas dictates the terms of the ceasefire from under the rubble of Gaza.

While the world is focused on the Zionist-Iranian cycle of retaliation, the war in Gaza continues.

The newspaper said on Friday that the movement rejected the latest proposal drawn up by international negotiators, insisting on the return of only half of the prisoners, in addition to other conditions it knows are unpalatable to the Zionist government, which is under domestic and international pressure.

"War losers usually give up," the newspaper said.

"This is not the case for Hamas," she said, adding that the reason behind this "incredible wartime challenge is simple: so far Hamas has been the victor."

Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, said in an exclusive interview with al-Mayadeen that Hamas adheres to its conditions in the negotiations and will not go to any deal without achieving them.

Haniyeh reiterated the resistance's commitment to the need to declare a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, a comprehensive withdrawal from the entire Strip, the return of the displaced to their places of residence unconditionally, then relief, shelter, reconstruction and lifting the siege, leading to a serious deal for prisoners.

He stressed that "without that, the movement will not go to any agreement that detracts from these demands."
