HEBRON April 17. 2024 (Saba) - The Hebron Municipality announced has that the Zionist enemy authorities decided to confiscate an area of the city’s land in the south of the occupied West Bank to establish a new settlement there.

The Palestinian Information Center quoted the municipality in a statement as saying “The enemy authorities issued a military decision to confiscate 64 dunums - a dunum equals 1,000 square meters - of citizens’ lands in al-Buira area located northern the city of Hebron.”

It explained that the authorities aim to establish a new residential and industrial settlement on this Palestinian land.

The municipality added "The decision comes in conjunction with the settlement expansion, which has increased in pace in light of the war on the Gaza Strip and targets a vital area of the city of Hebron."

It warned that this step comes as a prelude to the displacement of the population from the area, which numbers about eight thousand Palestinian citizens, to seize and control about 800 dunams.

Following the Zionist decision, official and civil institutions in Hebron agreed, during a meeting, to follow up on the file legally through a legal team, according to the statement.

These institutions called on the international community and human rights institutions to intervene urgently and quickly to stop this blatant violation, which threatens to explode the situation in the region.”

According to official documentation by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the Zionist enemy confiscated a total of 12,246 dunums of West Bank land during the first quarter of 2024, and the Zionist authorities studied 17 settlement structural plans.
