SANA'A April 16. 2024 (Saba) - The field monitoring teams of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and its offices in the capital's secretariat and the governorates seized three thousand and 202 violations during the month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Director of Central Operations at the Ministry of Industry Najib al-Athri told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the intensive field campaign carried out by the ministry and its offices during the month of Ramadan seized two thousand and 237 violations, while the committees on duty during the days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday seized 965 violations.
He pointed out that the capital's municipality ranked first in terms of controlling violations with one thousand and 157 violations during the holy month and 515 violations during the days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, followed by the governorates of Hodeidah and Amran with 169 violations for each governorate during the month of Ramadan, while Saada came in second place during the days of Eid al-Fitr with 66 violations and Hodeidah third with 55 violations.
Most of the violations during the month of Ramadan were the failure to declare prices, while most of the violations during Eid were to raise the prices of meat, al-Athri said.
He pointed out that the field control plans reached during the month of Ramadan to remote areas in accordance with the new control mechanisms approved by the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, while the monitoring targeted during the days of the Eid holiday meat shops, canteens and various outlets in parks and outlets to protect consumers from fraud and exploitation.
According to the director of operations of the Ministry of Industry, all the ministry's offices have resumed daily monitoring operations with the start of official working hours on the markets and daily reports on the results of the campaigns.
The work of the field teams and the price and supply conditions in the capital's secretariat and the governorates are evaluated under the supervision of the undersecretary for the internal trade sector, he said.
