GAZA April 16. 2024 (Saba) - A human rights organization confirmed last night that the Zionist enemy forces have been detaining since the beginning of their aggression on the Gaza Strip three thousand Palestinians from the Strip, including women, children, the elderly and doctors.
Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights said in a statement carried by the Palestinian Information Center that it "was able to count 1,650 detainees from Gaza inside Zionist prisons, under the Illegal Combatant Law, a law issued in 2002 and amended last December, which deprives detainees of any judicial review and fair trial guarantees."
The statement added: "These detainees are distributed in Nafha and Negev prisons in complete isolation from the world, as the occupation prevents the publication of information related to them, and deprives them of the appointment of lawyers or any legal representation."
The center pointed out that the Zionist enemy transferred another 300 detainees from Gaza, including ten children, to investigate other cases, on Ashkelon and Ofer prisons.
"All detainees are subjected to torture and degrading and degrading treatment from the moment of arrest to interrogation centres," he said.
The center quoted one of the detainees as saying: "He was beaten and pulled out three of his nails during interrogation, and that the interrogators called him a dog."
Al Mezan called on the international community to "shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities towards the occupied Palestinian territories, enforce the provisions of international law, protect civilians, especially detainees, and stop the crimes of torture they are subjected to in the camps and prisons of the Zionist enemy forces."
Since the seventh of last October, the Zionist enemy army continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip, with American and European support, as its planes bomb the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians and destroy them over the heads of their residents, and prevent the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.
