Hamas sends its latest response to Egypt, Qatar over deal

GAZA April 14. 2024 (Saba) - Hamas has said that it delivered its response to the proposal it received a week ago to mediators in Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas stressed that it included a commitment to demand a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced, intensifying the entry of relief and aid, and the start of reconstruction.

Leadership sources in in Hamas confirmed to al-Mayadeen channel that it had submitted its response to the mediators’ proposal that it received about a week ago, noting that the response included the issues that were in dispute.

The sources reported that amendments were made to the first stage of the proposal, including the titles of withdrawal of the occupation forces, the return of the displaced, humanitarian aid, and the number of prisoners, in addition to amendments to the second stage related to the movement’s demand for a clear text regarding the ceasefire.

Head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniyeh confirmed in an exclusive interview with al-Mayadeen that Hamas is adhering to its conditions in the negotiations and will not go to any deal without achieving them.

Haniyeh reiterated the resistance’s adherence to the necessity of declaring a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, a comprehensive withdrawal from all of the Strip, and the return of the displaced to their places of residence without restrictions or conditions, followed by relief, shelter, reconstruction, and lifting the siege, leading to reaching a serious deal for the prisoners, stressing that “it is Without that, the movement will not go to any agreement that detracts from these demands.”
