Egyptian intelligence: Truce agreement in Gaza is about to be signed & will leave Cairo soon
[08/ April/2024]

CAIRO Apr 08. 2024 (Saba) - The head of the Egyptian State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, stated that "the truce agreement in the Gaza Strip is about to be signed." He pointed out that "he will leave Cairo soon."

According to what was quoted by Al-Mayadeen, at dawn on Monday, Rashwan enumerated during a media interview, last night, the factors that push him to expect the approaching conclusion of the truce agreement, most notably what is happening inside the Zionist country of demonstrations against the government, and the pressure exerted by the international community on the Zionist entity to stop its aggression.

He pointed out that the presence of the adviser to the Prime Minister of the Zionist enemy, Benjamin Netanyahu, as part of the negotiating delegation in Cairo, and the meeting of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with the head of the CIA William Burns, reflect positive indicators.

On the factors that portend the signing of an agreement soon, Rashwan pointed to the Zionist withdrawals from the Gaza Strip, in addition to international condemnations of the deliberate killing of aid workers working in the global central kitchen.

He added that there is talk in the negotiations about increasing the number of aid trucks to 500. He said: "Egypt raised the number to 300 before the end of the negotiations, in preparation for reaching 500 after the agreement."

Rashwan pointed out that the maximum number of aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression on the seventh of October reached 200 in the week of the truce. He attributed the reasons to "Zionist pressure, disruption and inspection at the Kerem Shalom and Al-Awja crossings."

It is noteworthy that the Hamas delegation confirmed during a meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Intelligence, Abbas Kamel in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Sunday, the movement's adherence to its natural national demands during the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

During the meeting, the Hamas delegation stressed the need to reach an agreement that would achieve a complete cessation of aggression, the withdrawal of the Zionist enemy forces from the Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced freely to their areas and places of residence, relief for the Palestinian people, and the start of the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the enemy.

He added that a prisoner exchange deal must be concluded under which the Palestinian prisoners would be mutually released in exchange for the release of (Zionist) prisoners held by Hamas and the resistance in Gaza.
