Sultanate of Oman calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip
[28/ March/2024]
GENEVA March 28. 2024 (Saba) - The Sultanate of Oman stressed the need to adhere to the implementation of the Security Council resolution calling for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This came in a statement delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Idris bin Abdul Rahman Al-Khanjari, on Thursday, before the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, according to the Oman News Agency.

He stressed the Sultanate of Oman's condemnation of war crimes, genocide, forced displacement, destruction and deliberate starvation committed by Israel, and that this genocide is a dangerous escalatory stage of a process that lasted more than 70 years, and could have stopped long ago if the efforts of the international community had been genuinely concerted.

He noted the solidarity of the Sultanate of Oman with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, who, like other officials who had chosen to take the right path, was under pressure and obstacles, and shared her conclusions and recommendations.

The UN representative said that the magnitude of the crime practiced and practiced by the Zionist enemy forces in front of the eyes of the world raises many questions about the human rights system, including why we are under this dome witnesses to the most terrible crimes without being able to facilitate the entry of aid, feed the hungry, protect hospitals, patients and medical staff, and even protect United Nations facilities and representatives.

The Sultanate of Oman called on the international community to overcome the state of silence and work to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and prevent genocide by stopping the supply of weapons to the Zionist entity, employing political means of pressure and economic sanctions to deter it, and the need to compensate the Palestinians in proportion to the destruction, killing and harm caused by the Zionist entity as a result of its aggression against unarmed civilians.
