First meeting of supervisory & technical committees held to align outcomes of technical & vocational education with labor market requirements

SANA'A March 25. 2024 (Saba) - The first meeting of the Supervisory and Technical Committee was held in Sana'a to align the outcomes of technical education and vocational training with the requirements of the labor market formed by Council of Ministers Resolution No. (9) of 1445 AH, headed by the Minister of Planning and Development of the caretaker government - Chairman of the Committee, Abdulaziz Nasser Al-Kumaim.

The meeting, which included the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training - Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Ghazi Ahmed Ali Mohsen, members of the Committee, including a number of caretaker government ministers , specialists in government agencies and the private sector, discussed a number of reports that focused on the reality of technical education and vocational training in Yemen, presented by the Ministry of Education and Technical for importance of aligning the outcomes of technical education and vocational training with the labor market to achieve sustainable development.

At the meeting, the Minister of Planning and Development welcomed the members of the supervisory and technical committees, stressing the importance of aligning technical education and vocational training with the requirements of the labor market to achieve development.

He reviewed the tasks of the Supreme Supervisory Committee and the Technical Committee that will undertake the work of the national project that will determine development goals. He explained that the project aims to bridge the gap between the outcomes of technical and vocational education with the requirements and needs of the labor market, raise the efficiency of coordination, search for support , funding to develop the necessary infrastructure and develop educational methods for vocational training , updating the systems and curricula for this education

Minister Al-Kumaim indicated that the project also aims to enhance cooperative training in vocational institutes in partnership with the private sector and the need for coordination between the two sectors in this field.

It was agreed to hold a workshop in which a number of specialists and academics would participate, the need for appropriate preparation and working papers that would discuss the problem in all its aspects, propose appropriate solutions, and adopt the recommendations presented by the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training.
