Warnings against Zionist enemy committing humanitarian catastrophe
[03/ March/2024]

SANA'A March 03. 2024 (Saba) - After the Zionist enemy army approved a military operation in the city of Rafah, south of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Warnings continue that the enemy will commit a “massive humanitarian catastrophe” and a “global massacre” if it invades the city, which is considered the last refuge for the displaced in the Gaza Strip, and where about 1,400,000 Palestinians live.

In this context, the government media office in Gaza warned, last Saturday, of a “global catastrophe and massacre” that could leave tens of thousands martyred and wounded if enemy forces begin a ground operation in the city to which they have ordered the residents of the Gaza Strip to flee since the start of the war on October 7th.

The office said in a statement: “The Zionist enemy’s media reported on the intention and threats of the occupation army to attack and invade Rafah Governorate (south of the Gaza Strip), which includes more than 1,400,000 Palestinian citizens, including 1,300,000 displaced people from other governorates, which threatens the occurrence of a global catastrophe and massacre.”

The statement called on the UN Security Council to “convene immediately and urgently and take a decision that ensures that the Zionist enemy is obligated to stop the genocidal war it is committing against civilians, children and women in the Gaza Strip.”

In turn, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) warned that the enemy would commit massacres in the city of Rafah, which is crowded with displaced people living in harsh humanitarian conditions.

The movement said in a statement today: “We warn of a global catastrophe and massacre that could leave tens of thousands martyred and wounded if Rafah Governorate is invaded.”

The Hamas movement also called on “UN and human rights institutions to document this crime among hundreds of massacres by the Zionist enemy and to prosecute the criminal army and its leaders.”

Aid agencies also warned that a military attack in such a densely populated area could ultimately lead to the death of large numbers of innocent people.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini conveyed the concern of the displaced in Rafah, saying: “There is a growing sense of anxiety and panic in Rafah... because people have absolutely no idea where to go.”

The United Nations confirms that Rafah hosts more than 1.3 million displaced people, who represent about half of the population of the Gaza Strip.

Thus, the population of Rafah increased fivefold as people fled the Zionist bombing, often under evacuation orders.

Last Wednesday, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, warned of “countless regional repercussions” of a possible Zionist ground attack on the city of Rafah.

The UN Security Council had previously called for a resolution to oblige the Zionist enemy to stop the genocide it is committing against the Palestinian people.

The League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the UN Security Council also called for urgent and serious action to prevent genocide in the city of Rafah.

In a statement, the Palestinian Presidency considered that the Zionist plans to invade Rafah were intended to displace the Palestinian people from their land.

The United Nations had warned against any military operation in the city of Rafah, saying: Any mass forced displacement imposed on its residents and displaced persons would be a violation of international law.
