Suspension of support for UNRWA...New phase of Zionist-American partnership in war of extermination in Gaza
[08/ February/2024]
CAPITALS February 08. 2024 (Saba) -The decision taken by the United States of America and some Western countries to cut funding for the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that we are facing a new phase of partnership in the Zionist war of annihilation against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Today, after the failure of removing the Gaza Strip from the equation of deterrence imposed by the Palestinian resistance, America continues to side with the aggression by trying to remove the work of the UN agency.

Referring to the statements in this regard, we find that the decision of America and its allies to suspend their financial contributions to UNRWA came in response to the claim of the Zionist enemy authorities that approximately 12 employees of the agency participated in the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation on the 7th of last October.

In addition, the usurping entity claims that more than 190 UN agency employees belong to the Hamas or Islamic Jihad movements.

In fact, the 18 countries that announced the suspension of funding for UNRWA, led by America, actually participating in the crime of genocide committed by enemy forces in Gaza, especially since it came as a retaliatory reaction against the decision of the International Court of Justice.

According to the United Nations, the countries decided to suspend their funding to UNRWA are: the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Italy, Britain, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, New Zealand, Iceland, Romania, Estonia, and the European Union.

On the other hand, Spain, Ireland and Norway announced that it would not cut aid, but expressed their willingness to support an investigation into the Zionist allegations.

A coalition of 20 aid organisations, including the Norwegian Refugee Council, Oxfam and Save the Children, saying UNRWA's provision of humanitarian aid "irreplaceable".

In speaking about these countries being drawn into the Zionist narrative, political analysts and writers saw that drawing in comes as an endorsement of the massacres carried out by the Zionist enemy entity.

According to analysts, this decision also reflects the moral fall of the Western system led by the United States after it failed to protect the principles it advocates.

Analysts indicated that American consistency with the Zionist accusations against UNRWA nothing more than accusations that fall under the concept of maliciousness, based on the factor of revenge for the role played by UNRWA since the aggression launched by the Zionist entity against the Gaza Strip.

Therefore, the American decision to suspend funding for UNRWA aroused the ire of the former director of Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth, who wrote on his Twitter account, saying, “I wish the United States government had been quick to suspend military aid to Israel based on the decision of the International Court of Justice.”

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the decision of countries to suspend their funding to UNRWA as a "catastrophic decision", especially since it is the main humanitarian agency in Gaza, on which more than a million people.

In the same vein, the official spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Palestine, Kazem Abu Khalaf, described the decision to suspend funding for UNRWA as a “death blow” that will greatly affect the Gaza Strip.

Abu Khalaf said: “The situation in the Gaza Strip is getting worse and deteriorating as a result of the decrease in aid entering the Strip.” He added: About 50 percent of the population of Gaza are now in the city of Rafah.

He explained that the features of famine in Gaza become clear, as the aid entering the Strip represents only a “drop in the ocean.”

Abu Khalaf stressed the need to immediately reverse the decision to suspend funding for UNRWA so that the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip is not affected.

In turn, the leader of the Hamas movement, Osama Hamdan confirmed that the series of systematic targeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), by the Zionist enemy and the countries supporting it, comes as an extension of the restrictions on Palestinian people, it persecution, suffocation, killing and displacement.

Hamdan considered this decision a confirmation by these countries, “of indulgence in the policy of restricting our people, punishing it collectively, and actually participating in the war of extermination.”

He said: This step “fully consistent with the ongoing Zionist quest to liquidate and eliminate UNRWA, and end the Palestinian refugee issue.”

In practicing the usual policy of hypocrisy, the Hamas leader considered the position of the American administration and the countries that followed it at this time to be clear evidence that the Biden administration leading a criminal alliance.

He called on these countries to immediately return from this decision, and to stop blindly following the false Zionist narrative.

It is worth noting that UNRWA established by a decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 1949, and began its work in 1950 to assist and employ refugees which have been subjected to forced displacement since 1948 AD due to Zionist terrorism and displacement operations.
