TOKYO February 07. 2024 (Saba) - Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has recorded a leak of radioactive water from purification equipment at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
China's official Xinhua news agency quoted the company as saying today: "Approximately 5.5 tons of water containing radioactive materials have leaked from equipment used to treat nuclear-contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi plant," pointing out that "employees discovered water leakage from the pipe, and the presence of radioactive elements was recorded.
It is assumed that a large part of the radioactive water was absorbed into the soil, and the observation point installed near the nearby drainage channel shows no change in the level of radiation.
