
SANA'A February 02. 2024 (Saba) -Sana'a University advanced 335 places in the "Webometrics" world rankings of universities issued by the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Spain for the year 2024 AD.
The results of the classification showed that Sana'a University advanced from rank 3897 last year to rank 3562 globally in January 2024, out of more than 30,000 universities around the world, and the university ranked first locally at the level of public and private universities.
The results also showed that Sana'a University advanced to 185th place at the level of Arab universities out of more than (1,400) Arab universities, compared to 208th place last year.
The "Webometrics" website is concerned with classifying universities according to their activities and research published on the Internet, the extent of the spread of their work digitally on the Internet, and the excellence of the scientific research published by its researchers , staff, with the aim of improving the quality of higher education , scientific research and encouraging the publication of peer-reviewed scientific articles in an open link method.
The classification is considered an indicator of universities’ commitment to taking advantage of the Internet to display what they have and is based on measuring the performance of universities through their websites within the criteria of “size, research outputs, and impact.”
In this regard, the President of Sana'a University, Dr. Al-Qasim Abbas, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that this achievement came as a result of the efforts of the university's management and cadres to show its true image on its website and to strive to include the university's indicators on its website to obtain advanced positions in the global classification list.
He pointed out that the university has achieved a number of achievements at the academic, educational and research levels, the most recent of which is obtaining national academic accreditation for the human medicine program, and international accreditation for applied medical sciences programmes.
In 2018, Sana'a University was ranked (5413) globally, and within five years it advanced (1851) in rank, as a result of the developments it witnessed during the previous years , its reliance on the best educational , academic practices , support and encouragement of scientific research.
