America is experiencing international isolation because of its support for Zionist enemy entity

CAPITALS December 31. 2023 (Saba) - Since the Zionist-American aggression against the Gaza Strip began, following the heroic “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle against the Zionist enemy entity on October 7th, Washington has been forced more than once to stand alone in international forums to defend its so-called "Israel".

The unilateral vote of the United States of America against a draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council for a ceasefire in Gaza, followed by a vote of 153 States in the United Nations General Assembly in favour of the "resolution", as opposed to the rejection by Washington, the Zionist enemy entity and only eight States, reflects the scale of the isolation suffered by the "American position" globally.

Despite this "isolation", Washington alone is still able to challenge the world, negate the desire of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and more than three quarters of the world's nations to end the bloody war in the Gaza Strip, which threatens regional security and peace.

This is all because of the "veto" held by the United States in the United Nations Security Council and the lack of any "mandatory" authority in United Nations General Assembly resolutions, which places the fate of world peace at the centre of the "interests and wishes of five veto-owning States", and can be used even in cases and wars to which they are parties.

This situation naturally cripples the role of the United Nations and its organs, for which the maintenance of global peace and security is the highest objective for which it was founded after the Second World War in 1945.

This prompted several States and continental and regional organizations to call for the reform of the United Nations system, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who always brings the slogan "The world is bigger than five", to end the dominance of UN Security Council resolutions by the "Five Veto States", and thus the destiny of world peace.

When President Joe Biden took power three years ago, he declared in an enthusiastic tone that "America is back!" To assume its international responsibilities after his predecessor Donald Trump's isolationist policy, Washington today finds itself increasingly in international isolation because of its firm support for the Zionist enemy entity in its barbaric aggression against the Gaza Strip.

In the United Nations Security Council, for example, America has used two consecutive vetoes to prevent two resolutions calling for a "humanitarian ceasefire" in the Gaza Strip.

However, the country that claims to be the most powerful in the world emerged on Friday timidly from its isolation in the UN Security Council with its decision that it can not reject a resolution calling for the "widespread" introduction of humanitarian assistance into the sector besieged by the Zionist enemy.

Contrary to the position taken by some of its closest allies, such as Britain, France and Japan, which voted in favor of the resolution - the United States abstained, as did Russia.

A week earlier, at the United Nations General Assembly, the United States had found only Austria and the Czech Republic to vote against a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This situation continues to have a negative impact on the image of the United States of America in the world.

"The way all this is perceived in the rest of the world is that the United States cares about" Israelis "and Ukrainians", and it pays less attention to non-Western peoples, "says expert at the Chatham House Research Centre in London Leslie Vinjamuri.

Unlike his Republican predecessor, who supported the Zionist enemy entity unreservedly, Biden has more than once lost patience with the Zionist enemy entity to the extent that he has publicly brought out his differences with enemy head of government Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the Palestinian Government in Gaza, the Zionist-American aggression against the Gaza Strip has resulted in more than 20 thousand martyrs, the majority of them women and children, and more than 53 thousand injured.

The Gaza War had shown that the United Nations had become unable to fulfil its main task of maintaining global peace. The International Security Council had been unable to condemn the indiscriminate shelling of civilians in the Gaza Strip, the killing of Palestinian women and children, or even the killing of United Nations personnel.

This difficult and fateful situation of the credibility of the United Nations has prompted its Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to use his utmost powers by invoking Article 99 of the Founding Charter of the United Nations, which in the history of the international Organization has rarely been used, and which gives him the right to "bring to the attention of the Security Council any matter which he considers may threaten the protection of international peace and security".

In a letter sent to the Security Council on December 6, Guterres warned that the war in Gaza "could exacerbate existing threats to international peace and security."

However, with all this international and international pressure, the United States has used the veto right in the Security Council against a draft ceasefire resolution that 13 nation voted for, and Britain abstained in disregard of the vote, which took place on December 8.

It was a powerful shock to the world, to which Guterres commented, disappointed.. He said: "The authority and credibility of the UN Security Council have been undermined by the inability to adopt the ceasefire resolution in Gaza Strip.

The Security Council's inability to pass a resolution to halt the path towards genocide of Palestinians in Gaza raises questions about the usefulness of an international organization that cannot do its least to end the deadliest wars and conflicts of the 21st century.

As the League of Nations' failure to prevent the Second World War was the beginning of its breakthrough, the failure of the United Nations to issue a ceasefire resolution ending the brutal war in Gaza puts its future on the line.

It is worth mentioning that the world's nations are more than ever obliged to seek new alternatives or institutions that are fairer and more effective in achieving international peace. or at least modernize the United Nations in a way that does not make human life hostage to a small league of nations, world peace and the lives of thousands of civilians cannot reasonably be suspended by the fate of one or even five States, while thousands of children are killed in Gaza without a firm international stance.
