DAMASCUS October 12.2023 (Saba) - The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered on Thursday that the Zionist aggression that targeted the Damascus and Aleppo international airports comes within the framework of the continuation of the enemy authorities and their supporters in their policies based on aggression and occupation, and falls within the context of their attempts to export their crises and divert attention from its crimes against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Syrian News Agency quoted the ministry as saying that it addressed today both the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council regarding the recent Zionist attack on the Damascus and Aleppo airports, which led to damage to the two civilian airports’ landing strips, intimidation of travelers, endangering their lives and the safety of civil aviation, and putting the two airports out of service.
The Ministry indicated that this aggression comes within the framework of the continuation of the enemy authorities and their supporters in their policies based on aggression and occupation, and the continued commission of crimes and serious violations of international law and the United Nations Charter in a clear expression of Zionist arrogance and its continued contempt for international laws.
The Foreign Ministry added, “This aggression also falls within the context of the enemy entity’s continuous attempts to export its crises, inflame the situation in the region, and divert attention from war crimes, crimes against humanity, and mass massacres committed against innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who are subjected to a brutal campaign of killing and indiscriminate and barbaric bombing that targeted the infrastructure.” And civilian facilities, schools, hospitals, citizens’ homes, and even the centers of the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and the accompanying deadly siege that deprives the residents of the Gaza Strip of food, water, and energy supplies, which reflects the hysterical state that the Israeli occupation authorities have reached.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed the Syrian Arab Republic’s emphasis on the necessity of putting an end to the crimes of the Zionist enemy that the peoples of the region have suffered from over many decades, and holding the occupation authorities accountable for their crimes. The three Western countries that are permanent members of the Security Council must stop their blind bias towards the enemy entity and their selective policies, enabling the United Nations to put its relevant resolutions, most notably Resolutions 242, 338 and 497, into practice in order to ensure an end to the occupation and stop its crimes against the people of the occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Arab Golan, and the threat it poses to peace and security in the region and beyond.
