Moscow September 16. 2023 (Saba) - Researchers at the European Space Agency analyzed satellite data to monitor ground movements after the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco last Friday, killing thousands of people and causing major material losses.

The European Space Agency stated, on its official website, that satellite data was provided, through the International Charter "Space and Major Disasters" to assist emergency response teams in Morocco.

She added that this was done through the two satellites of the Sentinel-1 mission in Europe, which are part of a group of satellites launched by the agency, orbiting the planet, to map the Earth’s surface.

She explained that the measurements were used to analyze how the ground moved as a result of the earthquake, which will help in planning reconstruction.
