TRIPOLI September 14. 2023 (Saba) - The Libyan Red Crescent announced Thursday morning that the toll of missing people in the torrents and floods that struck the east of the country exceeded ten thousand people.

Libyan media quoted the Red Crescent as saying preliminary statistics indicate that the number of missing people exceeded ten thousand people, adding the teams are working with all their might to rescue the largest possible number of these people and return them safely.

The Libyan authorities declared the city of Sousse, located in the east of the country, a disaster city after it was exposed to massive floods and torrential rains as a result of the Mediterranean storm “Daniel” that struck the eastern region of Libya.

Incomplete statistics indicate that floods in the city of Derna claimed the lives of about 2,300 people.
