BEIJING Sep. 03. 2023 (Saba) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stressed that attempts by certain forces from outside the region to undermine peace in the South China Sea will not succeed.
The Chinese newspaper Global Times quoted Wang Yi, in his speech at the 2023 Global City Hall, as saying “Beijing is always ready to resolve differences through dialogue with relevant countries and search for effective ways to manage the maritime situation.”
He added"The Ukrainian crisis must not be repeated on the Asian continent, and that regional security must be strengthened through dialogue and cooperation."
Last month, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged America to stop exploiting the South China Sea issue to sow discord, and to respect China’s territorial and maritime rights, after the United States issued a statement condemning the Chinese Coast Guard’s use of water cannons against Philippine ships near Yongin Shoal Island, disputed with Beijing in the South China Sea.
There are disputes between China and a number of countries bordering the South China Sea, including the Philippines, regarding maritime borders and ownership of the islands in the South China Sea.
