Medvedev warns Japan against militarization
[03/ September/2023]
MOSCOW Sep. 03. 2023 (Saba) - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has warned Tokyo on Victory Day over Japan against adopting a new militarization approach, which would exacerbate the seriousness of the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Russian TASS news agency quoted Medvedev, at events held in the city of Yuzhnosakhalinsk in the Russian Far East following the victory over Japan and the end of World War II, as saying "It is regrettable that Japan is pursuing a new militarization policy, adding the current Japanese authorities are heirs to powers that once confronted us," "A disgraceful end."

He added the Japanese authorities, with the support of their American sponsors, have begun to actively develop Japan's military infrastructure, foreign weapons are being purchased, including offensive weapons, and restrictions imposed on the development of the Japanese "defense forces" and military operations abroad are being lifted.

He pointed out that "military exercises near the Russian Kuril Islands seriously complicate the situation in the Asia-Pacific region."

Medvedev continued saying "Japan must learn from history in an unforgettable memory that we celebrate today, fully acknowledge the results of World War II, do everything in its power to prevent the outbreak of a third war, and abandon its military ambitions in the service of its people."

He said Tokyo, with its attempts to rewrite history, justify war crimes, and whitewash their perpetrators, as happened in the middle of the last century, is now supporting a new Nazi regime, and this time, unfortunately, in Ukraine.
