JOHANNESBURG Aug. 27. 2023 (Saba) - Brazilian President Lula da Silva has alluded to discrimination in granting loans to countries, stressing that developing countries receive loans at very high rates.
The Brazilian president said in a video speech at the plenary session of the "BRICS" summit in Johannesburg, according to what was reported by the "Russia Today" channel: "Developing countries receive loans with interest that represents 7 times the interest received by other countries."
The West also blamed the emissions problem, he said:"The emissions problem represents a major problem borne by the former colonial countries and it is responsible to the international community and humanity." Lula da Silva called on countries to abide by the Paris Climate Agreement.
The BRICS summit was launched in South Africa, which will continue until the 24th of the month, as the leaders of the member states discuss strengthening economic and trade ties, and consider the issue of joining new members.
