MOSCOW July 26. 2023 (SABA) - Russian foreign affairs on Wednesday announced Moscow's quest to weaken the US dollar used by Washington as a tool for monopoly and privileges, and to apply its aggressive policies.
Russian news agency Novosti quoted Russian Foreign Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying that Moscow "intends to cooperate with African friends to weaken the dollar, because the United States uses it not only as a tool for obtaining trade advantages and exercising monopoly, but also in applying its aggressive policies."
It also noted that Russia, together with African friends, hopes to forge a just global agenda and create new conditions for peaceful coexistence.
Experts emphasize that, as a result of American politics and the freezing of part of Russia's foreign reserves, many countries view the West's currencies as risky assets and no one wants to save and retain dollars anymore, fearing that the United States will freeze its reserves.
Western countries imposed sanctions against Russia against the backdrop of Ukraine's crisis, including the freezing of some $300 billion worth of Russian reserves.
