MOGADISHU July 09. 2023 (SABA) - The Somali army announced on Sunday that 40 members of al-Shabaab terrorist group linked to al-Qaida had been killed during a planned military operation in Walmro district of Lower Juba province, in the south of the country.
According to the Somali News Agency, the operation killed prominent leaders of the militant group in the Walmro region, 40 km from the town of Afmadow in the country's lower Juba region.
The agency noted that the Somali army had destroyed weapons and vehicles used by the terrorist militia to harm the Somali people.
The Somali Government has recently intensified its military operations against the Movement's positions.
