SANA'A June 7. 2023 (Saba) - The Parliament in its session on Wednesday, headed by its Speaker Yahya al-Ra'i, continued its discussion of a number of public issues.
During the session, the Parliament heard from the Minister of State for Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Ali Abu Hulaiqa the apology of the President of the National Salvation Government, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, for the government’s failure to attend today’s session, which was scheduled to attend at the request of the Parliament to discuss the performance of private funds and a number of public issues, including what is related to the implementation of the recommendations of the Parliament and what was not implemented and the reasons for that.
In the session, the Speaker stressed the importance of cooperation between the constitutional authorities to achieve integration and confront the exceptional circumstances the country is going through that require sharpening determination and concerted efforts to find effective solutions, and to address imbalances and shortcomings wherever they are, by updating legislation in a manner commensurate with the requirements of the current stage.
Al-Ra'i pointed to the importance of strengthening the oversight role to follow up the executive performance and evaluate the performance of private funds to improve the services provided to citizens in various aspects of life, foremost of which is road maintenance, improvement of electricity, water and health services, medicine and combating cancer diseases, and the advancement of the educational process and teacher support.
The Parliament also listened to the report of the Development, Oil and Mineral Resources Committee regarding some imbalances and abuses in the oil, gas and minerals sector, and the results of the discussion with the government side.
The Parliament postponed the discussion of the report to the next period in the presence of the concerned government side.
