MOSCOW June 05. 2023 (Saba) - The Russian Ministry of Defence announced on Monday that a large-scale attack by Ukrainian forces on five sectors of the front in the direction of Yuzhno Donetsk was foiled.
According to Russia's website today, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said: "On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale attack on five sectors of the front in the direction of Yuzhno Donetsk, during which 23 mechanical brigades and 31 strategic reserves of Ukrainian forces were introduced into the battle, with support from military and other sub-units ".
He added: "The enemy's goal was to penetrate our defences in the most vulnerable areas of the front in his opinion. the attack was thwarted and the enemy failed to achieve its objectives ".
The Russian defence spokesman indicated that the enemy forces consisted of six mechanized battalions and two tank battalions.
Konashenkov stressed that "as a result of the skilful and efficient actions of the Vostok forces' groups, the Ukrainian forces have lost more than 250 personnel, 16 tanks, three infantry combat vehicles and 21 armoured combat vehicles".
