MOSCOW June 03. 2023 (Saba) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Western countries of falsifying historical facts with a view to reinforcing the rift between the Russian and Belarusian fraternal peoples and working to weaken the state of the Union.
"Today, the collective West leaves no attempts to cynically falsify history, rewrite history in textbooks and distort facts," Lavrov said in this regard according to Russian news agency Sputnik.
"The historical monuments of the war (Soviet memorials glorifying sacrifices during the Second World War) are also being demolished and the aim is clear - to sow hostility between ethnicities and religions, to fuel chauvinism and differences between the Russian and Belarusian peoples in the hope of weakening the Union State." He added.
