HODEIDA May 30. 2023 (Saba) - A delegation of the World Health Organization briefed on Tuesday on the needs of al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Hodeida province.

The delegation inspected a number of emergency departments and centers in the hospital and the level of pressure faced by these departments in receiving patients from Hodeida and other neighboring provinces.

It briefed on the level of services provided in the pediatric emergency department, the general emergency department, the women's emergency department, the blood bank and its derivatives, the major and minor operating rooms, intensive care units, and physiotherapy.

The delegation listened to an explanation from the head of the authority Khaled Suhail about the increasing number of patients, and what these departments suffer from in terms of density and demand that exceeds their capacity, and the extent of the need for support to meet the overall work requirements in providing health and medical services to patients.

During a meeting with the delegation of the World Health Organization, the Authority's leadership discussed the most important needs that enhance the hospital's role in providing the best medical services and covering its efforts in treating patients from several governorates.

Suhail reviewed the role of the hospital, its departments, and its affiliated centers in ensuring continuity of services for patients, at a rate of 2,500 cases per day, despite the repercussions and difficult circumstances, the scarcity of capabilities, and the need of many departments for support and providing them with more equipment.

He touched on the urgent needs that still need the support of the World Health Organization, including the provision of medicines and medical supplies, and some medical devices and equipment, in addition to the expansion of the oxygen plant, and the provision of artificial limbs for people who lost their limbs as a result of the remnants of the aggression.

The head of the Al-Thawra Hospital Authority expressed his thanks for the organization's continued interventions and support for part of the authority's services and departments.

The head of emergency and injuries specialist at the World Health Organization praised the efforts of the leadership and cadres of al-Thawra Hospital Authority, stressing that the visit comes within the organization's vision to see the supported medical services.

He explained that the organization will work to coordinate with donors to provide more necessary support to the authority to ensure the continuation of work to provide medical and treatment services to patients.
