Discussing ICRC's interventions in Hajjah

HAJJAH May 30. 2023 (Saba)-The Director of the Humanitarian Affairs Branch in Hajjah province Allan Fadayel, and the coordinators of the Protection and Health Department of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Merla Soqin and Tom Ojwal, discussed today the ICRC's interventions in the health and protection sectors.

The meeting reviewed the role of the ICRC, during the past period, in supporting the sectors of health, protection, water and food security, and alleviating part of the suffering of the displaced and affected people.

In the meeting, Fadhail stressed the need to continue supporting the dialysis center in Hajjah, and to consider it a priority for the interventions of the next stage. Being the focal center that dozens of cases come to on a daily basis from Hajjah and the neighboring provinces.

He expressed his hope that the ICRC would intervene to provide the correctional needs of the central prison in Hajjah, represented by paving the entrance and yard of the correctional facility, supporting the health unit with medical and treatment supplies, and providing shelters.

He appreciated the ICRC's support for two field hospitals in Abs, pointing out the need to expand the circle of support.He considered that the two hospitals are the first line of protection through which health care is provided to the displaced , the sick, and the need to contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the rains and torrential rains in the displacement sites.

In turn, Ojwal and Soqin indicated that the aim of the visit was to evaluate interventions in the protection and health sectors, identify difficulties and recommendations, and monitor the need to work to meet it according to the available resources.
