SANA'A May 29. 2023 (Saba) - Parliament, chaired by Speaker Yahya al-Ra'i, listened to a brief report of the Water and Environment Committee regarding the results of the meeting with Minister of Water and Environment Abdulraqib al-Shurmani to address imbalances related to the Ministry and its affiliates
The members of the Parliament stressed the need to oblige the Public Corporation for Water and Sanitation to continue providing citizens with water in the capital Sana’a and the provincial capitals to avoid recurring interruptions that occur from time to time in some neighborhoods and districts.
They stressed the importance of modernizing and maintaining the water network, expanding the water networks to reach many areas in the capital Sana'a and the governorates and determining the appropriate pricing in a manner that takes into account the living conditions experienced by the citizen.
The Parliament postponed its discussion of the report to a next session in the presence of the concerned government side.
Al-Ra'i urged the permanent committees to carry out the tasks entrusted to them within the framework of activating the oversight role and following up the extent of the government’s commitment to implementing the recommendations issued by the parliament and providing it with what has been implemented and what has not been implemented of those recommendations so that the parliament can request government agencies to discuss that.
The Parliament heard from its member Ahmed Saif Hashed a question addressed to the Chairman of the General Authority for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning over the plans that have not been established, the time periods specified for their implementation, and a number of related inquiries.
Hashed called for the Authoirty's chairman to attended to the Parliament to answer the questions and inquiries as soon as possible, pursuant to the text of the regulations of the Parliament.
