World Slavery Index 2023: Arab Countries Recorded Highest Levels of Slavery this Year
[26/ May/2023]

EDINBURGH May 26. 2023 (Saba) - The World Slavery Index 2023, published by Wolk Free Organization, revealed that this year Arab countries recorded the highest levels of slavery in the world.
The NGO said in a detailed report on the phenomenon of modern slavery in the world in 2023 that there are about 50 million people living under this inhumane phenomenon, which affects all countries of the world but to varying degrees.
The report showed that Arab States such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were at a high level in their practice of modern slavery.
Such States were at the forefront of the classification because of their "sponsorship system", which restricted the freedoms of foreign workers and domestic workers.
The report showed that some 50 million people experienced so-called "modern slavery" around the world in 2021, an estimated increase of about 10 million compared to statistics conducted by the same organization in 2016.
"Modern slavery is hidden from view, but nevertheless it exists in most corners of the world," the organization, for which Australia is a website, wrote.
