Eleven Indonesian fishermen survive after spending six days without food Western Australia

JAKARTA April 19. 2023 (Saba) - The Australian authorities announced on Wednesday that 11 Indonesian fishermen had miraculously escaped death after being without food or drinking water for six days on an uninhabited island hundreds of kilometers off the western coast of Australia.

The Australian News Agency quoted the Australian Maritime Safety Authority as saying the fishermen's boat had been exposed to Hurricane "Elsa" last week, and then the Pilbara region of Australia was hit by a tropical storm at a later time.

It indicated that the men were rescued on Monday from Bidwell a small sandy island when they were discovered by the crew of an Australian Border Force plane during a routine patrol as a helicopter was sent to the island to evacuate them.

The station quoted (ABC) the Australian Indonesian rescue services to say there is another fishing boat sank and may have died nine passengers died.

Rescuers reported that one of the fishermen from the sunken boat clung to a container in the sea for 30 hours before he was finally washed up on the island's shore.
