BAGHDAD March 29. 2023 (Saba) - The Iraqi security forces in Nineveh province have arrested four members of the ISIS terrorist organization .
The provincial police command stated that detachments of the directorate of External Roads Affairs arrested three members of the of ISIS at a time when detachments of Qayyara Police directorate south of Mosul, arrested a fourth member.
It indicated that the detainees were handed over to the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Nineveh in the north of the country.
In a related context, Iraqi media reported that a security force thwarted a plan to target army forces south of Baqubah, the center of Diyala province, northeastern Iraq.
Security sources reported that a special security force arrested three members of a car at a security checkpoint south of "Buhriz" south of Baqubah and they were in possession of weapons that they were planning to target the security forces stationed at these points.
The same sources added that the security forces have strengthened their presence, especially in the areas between southern Diyala and the outskirts of the capital, Baghdad, in anticipation of any emergency.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi forces are still pursuing the remnants of the terrorist organization ISIS in several areas of the country, despite the passage of nearly six years since the government announced its victory over the organization.
