SANA'A February 06. 2023 (Saba) - Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Ibrahim al-Hamli met on Monday with Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Program for Program and Policy Development Valerie Guarnieri.
In the meeting, al-Hamli and Guarnieri discussed issues related to humanitarian aid, the food security survey, and solutions to all problems.
Al-Hamli stressed the need to regularly redistribute the aid provided by the program monthly, with a total of 12 rounds during the year, indicated that this would contribute to alleviating the worst human suffering in the world experienced by the Yemeni people.
He explained that the aid reduction has reached unsatisfactory levels, whether in terms of the number of distribution cycles or the components of the food basket.
Al-Hamli stressed the need to mobilize funds and work to distribute humanitarian aid to the most needy families, pointing to the importance of improving the share of food aid.
He also stressed the keenness of the Council to provide facilities to organizations operating in Yemen and to work to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who deserve it.
Al-Hamli indicated that the Council worked to issue 16,136 permits for the World Food Program during the past year, distributed between employee movements and transfer permits of food aid shipments.
He pointed out the importance of the food security survey contributing to meeting the actual need and alleviating the human suffering caused by the aggression and the ongoing siege.
For her part, Guarnieri appreciated the role of the Supreme Council in facilitating the work of the program, stressing the importance of implementing the food security survey, as it is linked to identifying needs and donors' interaction with the next response plan according to the data of the actual needs of those affected.
She indicated the keenness of the leadership of the WFP to provide humanitarian aid to the displaced and those affected by the humanitarian crisis they are experiencing.
