Parliament reviews Health Committee reports on its field visit
[04/ February/2023]
SANA'A February 04. 2023 (Saba) -The parliament, in its session today, Saturday, chaired by Parliament Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, reviewed the Public Health and Population Committee report regarding the field visit to the Ministry of Health Office, the Cancer Control Fund, the National Tumors Center and the National Cancer Foundation.

The committee's report touched on the severe deterioration of the health sector due to the repercussions of the aggression and blockade imposed on Yemen by the aggression coalition countries since March 2015, which systematically destroyed hospitals, health facilities and other service sectors.

The report indicated that more than 60% percent of the health sector's infrastructure has been destroyed, while the blockade has led to poor capabilities and the lack of safe medicine for patients, which is often lacking.

The report stated that the aggression coalition deliberately prevented the entry of spare parts for medical devices, radiological examination devices, etc., which led to many of these devices and equipment stopping work and preventing the entry of radioactive iodine, which is extremely important for treating cancer patients.

It pointed out that the aggression used prohibited weapons among civilians, which led to a multiplication of congenital malformations and an increase in the number of people with tumors.

In the session, the parliament discussed a number of general issues related to basic services for citizens, including what was recently raised about forgotten bank transfers.

The parliament approved assigning the Financial Affairs Committee to request the Finance Minister and the Central Bank Governor to ask them about these transfers and to provide the parliament with a report on that.
