HODEIDA January 07.2023 (Saba) - The General Fisheries Authority of the Red Sea and the Fishermen's Support Committee received three fishermen who had been abducted by aggression mercenaries for days.

Deputy Head of the Red Sea Fisheries Authority Mohammed Al-Omaisi explained on Friday that the released fishermen were detained for 11 days and practised all sorts of torture against them, stressing the Committee's keenness to strengthen its role in following up the cases of abducted fishermen and caring for their families.

The Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the Support of Abducted Fishermen reported to the Director-General of Ports and the Fisheries Landing Centre Aziz al-Otainy that the released fishermen were received and provided financial assistance by the Commission to alleviate their suffering and facilitate their return to their families.

For their part, the released fishermen explained that a number of mercenaries of aggression were carried by two naval boats who had been abducted in the course of their fishing career on a boat off the island of al-Shabeen located west of the Bahees area of the Midi district of Hajjah province.

They confirmed that they had been beaten, insulted, blindfolded, taken to military boats and held in solitary confinement, tortured and prevented from food except for a loaf of bread and water and treating them badly.
