Chamber of commerce forms legal team to follow up on merchants' compensation for sinking of container ship

SANA'A October 25. 2022 (Saba) - A meeting in the capital Sana'a approved on Tuesday the formation of a team of experts, jurists and merchants to follow up and compensate affected merchants for the sinking of 'Tss Pearl' ship after it caught a fire lasted ten days.

The meeting, which was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed the mechanism for claiming compensation for those affected by the sinking of the ship, which was carrying containers for Yemeni traders, in accordance with local and international laws.

Chamber's Vice President Mohamed Salah affirmed the Chamber's interest in following up the compensation in accordance with international laws and regulations.

Salah pointed to the need to develop a technical and legal study and compensation procedures to ensure the affected receive their rights.

He touched on the Chamber's efforts to support merchants and stand with them on various issues, praising the role of the private sector in supporting the national economy.
