SANA'A, Jul. 20 (Saba) - The Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) in a statement condemned the continued detention of fuel vessels destined for Hodeida port, and piracy by the US-Saudi aggression coalition, in light of the entry into force of the armistice agreement.
In a statement to SABA, YPC's official spokesman Essam al-Mutawakel read during a protest sit-in organized by the company on Wednesday in front of the Secretary-General of the United Nations office.
The company expressed its strong condemnation of the violation of the armistice terms by the coalition of aggression, which pursues the systematic policy of starvation against Yemeni people.
The statement confirmed that all the vessels arriving at Hodeida port during the truce period were subjected to piracy and detention by the aggression coalition for varying periods, totaling more than 200 days.
He explained that the fines for delays during the 2 truce periods amounted to more than 4 millions and 500 thousand dollars, indicating that only 24 out of 36 ships reached Hodeida port during the truce period, while 4 fuel ships are still in custody, including 2 petrol ships, a diesel ship, and a Gas ship.
The statement called on the United Nations and its envoy to assume their full responsibilities, as they are concerned with supervising and following up the terms implementation of the armistice and obligating the coalition of aggression to release the detained ships and stop piracy on them.
The statement of the company demanded the speedy removal of all obstacles, in order to ensure easy access of all agreed imported fuel vessels to cover the necessary needs of the vital and important sectors and the local market, and in a manner that contributes to alleviating citizens' suffering as a result of the aggression and siege.
