TAIZ, Jun. 30 (Saba) - The Public Health and Population Office in Taiz province has launched the first phase of the mobile medical clinics' activity in seven districts, funded by UNICEF.
The activity, which is implemented within the community intervention project for mother and child health and nutrition in its first phase for the current year, aims to provide health and nutrition services for children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers in the targeted districts.
It also aims to diagnose and provide basic treatments, spread health awareness and advice, and reduce the incidence of epidemic diseases.
Taiz health office director Dr. Abdulmalik al-Mutawakel said the goal of the mobile clinics’ activity lies in facilitating the access and provision of integrated health care services “immunization, reproductive health and therapeutic nutrition for malnutrition.”
Al-Mutawakel pointed out that the ten mobile clinics will provide health and nutritional services for children from the age of six months to less than five years, and pregnant and lactating mothers within the targeted districts, especially remote villages, which will contribute to the promotion of free health services.
He stated that the mobile clinics contain health supplies and will work on the second and third levels within the framework of the population control of health facilities.
Al-Mutawakel praised the efforts of UNICEF to support health activities and programs in Taiz, which contributes to alleviating the suffering of patients in light of the conditions the country is going through.
