Human Rights Ministry celebrates International Day in Support of Torture Victims
[27/ June/2022]

SANA'A, Jun. 27 (Saba) - The Ministry of Human Rights Sunday organized a speech event on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture under the theme "Torture is a crime against humanity".

At the event, Acting Minister of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, stressed the importance of supporting victims of violence in publicizing the gravity and awfulness of torture crimes and the mechanism to stand with those who are subjected to torture and to provide them with the necessary protection and assistance.

The crimes of torture were considered serious in view of the atrocity committed by the perpetrators of torture because of their humiliation and inhumane behavior. He stressed the need to implement international conventions and instruments criminalizing torture.

Al-Dailami pointed out that the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council were keen to deal humanely with detainees in any case, not to torture them and to preserve their dignity, since insult and humiliation were contrary to tolerant Islamic law and were regarded as unequal behavior.
