MAEC continues to install warning plates in al-Hawak district
[27/ June/2022]

HODEIDA, June 27 (Saba) - The Mine Action Executive Centre teams (MAEC) continued on Sunday the second phase of erection and installation of warning panels for remnants of war in the district of al-Hawak in Hodeida province.

The Director of the Mine Action Executive Centre, Brigadier General Ali Safra, explained that the second phase of the project included the erection and installation of panels on roads, streets, entrances to civilian installations and entrances to sub-streets located within the district, to reduce casualties in those areas contaminated by the remnants of aggression.

More than 780 warning panels will be erected and installed. He stressed that hazardous areas that had not been implemented would be closed until they had been cleared of mines, explosives and cluster bombs left by the aggression.

The Director of the Centre called on citizens of the Directorate to cooperate with the Centre's teams and to preserve the poses of panels, not to mess with them.

He called on the media and social media activists to contribute to the success of the awareness campaign to reduce the victims of the aggression. More than 17 citizens were killed and injured as a result of the mines in June.

He stressed that, as part of its humanitarian responsibility, the Centre was working with the possibilities available in light of the coalition's insistence on not releasing equipment for the work of the center's teams in clearing infested areas in a number of provinces.
