Transport Minister: first flight from Sana'a to Cairo to launch in June

SANA'A, May 29 (Saba) - Transport Minister Abdul Wahab al-Durra on Sunday unveiled launching the first civilian commercial flight from Sana'a to Cairo in June.

The flight was confirmed by the UN envoy's office in Sana'a and it is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 1st, via the National Carrier "Yemenia", the transport minister said in a statement to Saba.

He called on the United Nations to double the civilian commercial flights to save the lives of the patients and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Unitred Nations must increase the number of commercial flights to Cairo up to one trip per day, al-Durra said.

Sana'a International Airport can receive all flights of all types and size of aircrafts even at night after several-year-long hiatus due to the damage in the airport's facilities caused by the aggression coalition airstrikes, he said.

Minister Al-Durra praised Yemen's technical experts, who were able to rehabilitate the night lighting system of the main runway during a record period to complete airport readiness to receive flights 24 hours in accordance with the international requirements in force at all international airports.
