Water Deputy Minister, UNICEF Deputy Representative discuss cooperation in water field

SANA'A, May. 28 (Saba) - The Deputy Minister of Water and Environment, Hanin al-Dreeb, with the Deputy Resident Representative of UNICEF, Mazen Mana', discussed on Saturday cooperation between the Ministry and the organization and ways to develop it to ensure the implementation of service projects of a sustainable nature.

The meeting touched on the organization's outstanding commitments to the water and environmental sanitation sectors for the years 2018 - 2020 as well as the current year 2022 and the level of completion in completing the payment procedures for the remaining obligations.

The meeting reviewed the level of achievement in mobilizing funding for the water and sanitation sectors.

The meeting also touched on ways to complete the signing of the action plan and partnership agreement between the Ministry of Water and Environment and UNICEF.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Water and Environment stressed the keenness to strengthen coordination with UNICEF, the main partner of the water and sanitation sectors, to support the ministry's efforts and institutions in providing water and sanitation services to citizens and alleviating their suffering under the current situation.

He noted the need for UNICEF to adopt adequate resources in the Plan of Action to ensure that the Plan could be implemented and contribute to supporting efforts to promote the water and environmental sanitation sectors.

He urged that the mobilization of funding for the water resources and environment sectors should be scaled up to ensure the preservation of water stocks, resilience to climate change and sanitation projects and a focus on rural areas.

The Deputy Resident Representative of UNICEF expressed willingness to cooperate with the Ministry of Water and Environment and its bodies and institutions and to support their continued efforts to provide water and sanitation services to citizens.
