FM sends a message to his Egyptian counterpart

SANA'A, May 25 (Saba) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Hisham
Sharaf, sent a written letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab
Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, the designated president of the 27th session
of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change, which will be held in November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
In his message, Minister Sharaf addressed the repercussions of
climate change, which are mainly caused by emissions from industrial activities
in developed countries, which have led to a global warming and, consequently, a
rise in the level of oceans and seas.
He pointed out the repercussions of this on the2 most important
coastal regions in Yemen, Aden and Al-Hodeida, which will be greatly affected
by climate change in the coming years, taking into account the importance of Yemeni
2 coastal cities, which constitute the main sea ports for the arrival of more
than 90% of food, medical and commercial goods to the Republic. Yemeni.
Sharaf touched on the impact of climate change on the decrease in
the percentage of rain, which is the mainstay of agriculture in Yemen, which
significantly increased the percentage of arid and semi-arid lands.
Sharaf concluded his message by affirming the Republic of Yemen's
support for the Egyptian presidency of the 27th session of the Parties Conference to the United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, urging it to focus on
supporting Arab and developing countries with technology and investments in the
field of green economy.
