HODEIDA, Aug. 22 (Saba) - The Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation on Sunday decided to grant a grace period of 21 days for container ships “typical imports” that unload at Hodeida port.

The decision stipulated that the storage fees are calculated from the day following the end of the grace period, and these measures will enter into force on the first of next September and ends on December 31, 2021.

This came in an expanded meeting held in Sana'a, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Hassan Maqbouli, and included Transport Minister Amer Al-Marani, Undersecretary of Transport Ministry for Maritime and Ports Affairs Khaled Al-Nimr, and Chairman of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq.

In the meeting, Dr. Maqbouli indicated that the facilities provided by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation have been studied very carefully for the benefit of the country, citizens and merchants alike.

Dr. Maqboli referred to a package of measures announced by the Supreme Political Council, including a 49 percent reduction in customs duties, stabilizing the customs dollar exchange rate at 250 riyals, and other facilities.

He called on the chambers of commerce, the private sector and traders to seize this opportunity and work jointly with the Ministry of Transport, the Red Sea Ports Corporation and the Chamber of Navigation.
