One billion dollars amount of losses due to aggression's targeting of sports, youth facilities

SANAA, Feb. 08 (Saba) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports has revealed the size of the losses and damages resulting from the aggression's targeting of sports and youth facilities, which amounted to one billion dollars.

The first undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth, Abdul Hakim al-Dhahyani, stated in the press conference organized by the ministry on Saturday about the losses of the youth and sports sectors due to the US-Saudi- aggression, that the aggression's warplanes destroyed 108 youth and sports facilities across all provinces.

He confirmed that the ministry had provided 129 martyrs, among the cadres and members of the youth and sports movement, who were affected by US-Saudi aggression.

Al-Dhahyani denounced the silence of the international community and international organizations regarding the crimes of aggression and its destruction of infrastructure, chiefly sports facilities, calling on youth organizations and human rights organizations to play their role and work to stop the aggression and lift the siege.

While the Director-General of Projects in the Projects Sector, Eng. Ahmed al-Tuwaiti, reviewed a report on the losses and damages resulting from the targeting of sports and youth facilities by the US-Saudi aggression, which was divided between direct losses estimated at $ 650 million and indirect losses estimated at $ 350 million.

He pointed out that the aggression's warplanes targeted seven sports stadiums and 13 sports stadiums, and destroyed 23 halls, nine youth hostels, 21 administrative headquarters, six sports headquarters, and 12 stadiums that were bombed. 

He pointed out that about six thousand workers were deprived of job opportunities in the projects the ministry was implementing.

The report indicated that on March 30 last year, the aggression's warplanes targeted horse stables, which led to the death of 70 horses and the injury of 30 purebred Yemeni horses, while the aggression's airstrikes on November 27 led to the death of 30 purebred horses and major damage to the horse shelter.


In a statement read out at the conference, the Ministry of Youth called on federations, clubs, and international youth and sports organizations to show solidarity with the Yemeni people, especially children, women, youth, and athletes, who are subjected to aggression and blockade.


It called on the international community to work to stop the aggression, lift the blockade on Yemeni ports and ports, and form an independent international committee to investigate all crimes against the Yemeni people and to hold accountable all those who prove their involvement in these crimes.
