Yemen, ICRC discuss cooperation

SANA'A, Jan. 13 (Saba) - Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi discussed on Tuesday with director of operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Dominik Stillhart areas of cooperation and ways to develop them.

 
 
 
The deputy foreign minister condoled the ICRC over the deaths of several of its staff in the recent attack on Aden airport, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
 
At least 22 people were killed, including three ICRC employees in an explosion hit Aden airport on December 30. 
 
Al-Ezzi touched on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the aggression and siege, stressing the need for the humanitarian organizations to play their role in alleviating the suffering of the people.
 
He praised the efforts made by the ICRC in the prisoner exchange occurred last October, stressing the government's readiness to move forward with this important humanitarian issue to reach a deal to release all prisoners.
 
For his part, Stillhart reviewed the activities carried out by the ICRC on the ground, expressing the appreciation of the facilitation provided by the salvation government in this regard.
