SANA'A, Nov. 24 (Saba) – The United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF" issued a recent report warning of growing consequences for children as the "Corona" pandemic approaches its second year.

In its report, UNICEF warned of losing an entire generation, as (Covid-19) threatens to cause irreversible damage to children's education, nutrition, and well-being.

“As Yemen slowly inches towards what the UN Secretary-General has described as potentially 'the worst famine in decades,' the risk to children's lives is higher than ever."

UNICEF said, "More than 12 million children are in need of humanitarian assistance."

“Acute child malnutrition rates have reached record levels in some parts of the country, marking an increase of 10% this year alone,” it added.

“Almost 325,000 children under five suffer from severe acute malnutrition and are struggling to survive."

"Over 5 million children face threat of cholera and acute water diarrhea in the midst of COVID-19 as Yemen gets heavy rains".
