Prime Minister praises professional performance of Water Ministry’s leadership

SANAA, Sep. 20 (Saba) - Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor affirmed that the National Salvation Government is looking with high appreciation for the various tasks and projects that the Ministry of Water and Environment is carrying out for the benefit of citizens throughout the country under the leadership of Engineer Nabil Al-Wazir.

The Prime Minister praised the high professionalism of Minister Nabil Al-Wazir and his success, despite the blockade, in persuading donors to provide a number of funds for the benefit of the water and environment sector and implement valuable service projects for citizens in remote areas, especially in providing clean drinking water, as well as participating in combating epidemics, especially cholera and the novel corona virus (COVID-19).

This came during his visit on Saturday to the Ministry of Water and Environment and his meeting with the leadership of the Ministry, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs Lieutenant General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, Deputy Prime Minister for the National Vision Affaris Mahmoud Al-Junaid and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance Dr. Rashid Abu Lahoum.

In the meeting, which included Minister of the Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi and Ministers of State Faris Manna, Dr. Hamid Al-Mazjaji and Abdulaziz Al-Bakir, The Prime Minister said that “the Ministry of Water and Environment was able to make a hole in the wall of siege that the aggression coalition set up on the Yemeni people through its communication with donors, which turned into projects that the National Salvation Government, the homeland and the state as a whole are proud of.”

Dr. bin Habtoor indicated that dealing with international organizations has a special character and needs experience and flexibility for achieving the benefit of the nation and serving the citizens in this exceptional difficult circumstance.

He hailed the efforts of the officials in the ministry, its bodies and institutions cooperating with the minister, noting that what they do is a good professional work of the first degree.

The Prime Minister pointed out that this visit comes to express the government's thanks and appreciation for the important service activities of this ministry in general and the Minister of Water and Environment, who, by virtue of his experience, was able to convince all organizations to back this vital sector.

He noted that while “the Salvation Government and its ministries and institutions accomplished many tasks and projects despite the aggression and siege, the government of exile affiliated with Saudi-led aggression coalition did not present anything mentioned during this period in terms of service and development projects.”

The Prime Minister addressed the leadership of the ministry and heads of its subsidiary institutions, saying, "You render a great service to the nation and the citizens and I was impressed by the water projects that have been completed during the past two years, including the projects that were inaugurated by the Supreme Political Council's member Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi."

In turn, the deputies of the Prime Minister hailed the professional, developmental and service performance of the Ministry of Water and Environment and its affiliated bodies. In this regard, Lieutenant General Al-Ruwaishan praised the ministry’s ability to deliver water projects and solar energy systems to areas that these services have not reached for 58 years, including areas that are only 30 or 40 kilometers from the capital.

For his part, Dr. Maqbouli considered the ministry one of the ministries that operate with a systematic and national vision through which it was able to deliver its services to remote areas such as Wassab Al-Aali and Wassab Al-Safil in Dhamar province, affirming that the ministry deserves thanks and appreciation from everyone for its distinguished efforts.

Al-Junaid confirmed that he was closely familiar with all the ministry's activities it carried out during the years 2018 and 2019, pointing to the ministry’s success in harmonizing the needs of Yemen during the period of aggression and siege, harnessing all its energies to strengthen and develop its institutional activities and accomplishing many projects within the framework of the interim plan of the National Vision for build the modern Yemeni state.

In the same context, Dr. Abu Lahoum stressed the importance of the existing relations between the Ministry of Water and Environment and the donor organizations and the need to preserve them.

In turn, the Minister of Local Administration Al-Qaisi expressed, on behalf of the local authority, his thanks to the Minister of Water and Environment and heads of the institutions affiliated with the ministry for the expansion of water projects in all districts and villages.

At the meeting, the Minister of Water and Environment Engineer Nabil al-Wazir delivered a speech, in which he welcomed the Prime Minister, his deputies and the ministers, reviewing the ministry’s efforts and its completed projects at the republic’s level in rural and urban areas.

The Minister pointed out that the Ministry was able to gain the trust of donors in line with the directions of the state through its keenness to enhance steadfastness and victory for the homeland and citizens by implementing more water projects diligently.

Al-Wazir attributed the success achieved by the ministry through the completed projects to the support of the Revolution Leader Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, President of the Supreme Political Council His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Members of the Supreme Political Council, and Head of the National Salvation Government and his deputies.

He explained that the rural areas had the largest share of the projects achieved during the years 2018-2019 in the field of water and environment, indicating that the ministry was able to obtain new funding from the World Bank and the Germans for this vital sector, which is directly related to the lives and safety of citizens.

A number of heads of the Ministry’s bodies also spoke, reviewing the volume of projects implemented during the past two years and the qualitative leap witnessed by the water and sanitation sector thanks to the successful leadership management.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry's undersecretaries, heads of bodies and institutions affiliated with the ministry, directors of a number of local water and wastewater corporations and branches of the Rural Water Board.
